This is to announce and invite you to participate in the 1st Annual RSD Walk, which will be called "Amanda's Walk" sponsored by the Euclid High School NJROTC.
Mandy's NJROTC unit has spoken with Mayor Bill Cervenik of Euclid and they are going to make every Saturday after Labor Day the official day for "Amanda's Walk" in Euclid, Ohio.
The purpose of the walk will be:
1) to spread awareness of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) and
2) to raise funds for RSD research. RSD is known as the most painful chronic condition known to man. There are several ways that you can participate. First , you can get sponsors to pledge money and 'walk'. There will be two different routes, one is 3.5 miles and one is 10 miles.Second, you can pledge money. (This does NOT involve walking!)
3) either you can, or you can contact your employer, to see if they (or you) want to match funds or donate items or funds for the walk. We are hoping to give everyone a t-shirt with "Amanda's Walk", the date and the Euclid High School NJROTC insignia on the front. The back will have all the sponsors listed.
We would also like to give all walkers the orange "RSD AWARENESS" bracelets. (These will be available for sale, also.)
4) you can volunteer to help out. There will be plenty of opportunities to help and I know the NJROTC unit will appreciate the support!!
The walk will be on Saturday, September 10, 2005.
The event fee (registration fee) is $10.00 per walker.
Registration will be from 7:45 a.m. until 8:45 a.m..
The Pledge of Allegiance and Color Guard provided by the Euclid High School NJROTC will mark the beginning of the walk.
Walkers begin walking at 9:00 a.m. and should all be finished by 12:00 noon.
The walk begins and ends at Euclid High School on East 222nd Street.
There will be festivities afterward, which will end at 2:00 p.m.We are humbled beyond words by the outpouring of support for Mandy among her fellow cadets.
We are especially grateful to Sgt.Maj. Isaacs and Commander Bill Gray for their leadership. The new chain of command for the NJROTC unit came up with this idea and has made this idea become a reality by their awesome efforts and determination.
All pledges should be made payable to:
"Euclid High School" and they can be sent directly to Commander Bill Gray at The Euclid High School NJROTC unit
